The 2013 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria(MBGN) pageant, held in Bayelsa State on Friday 20th, 2013. I wasn't there, but, i watched every bit of it. Thanks to my TV set because the management of Silverbird streamed live. Lucky me!! 15 girls made it to the top 15 and Miss Bayelsa, Abuja,Imo,Kaduna and Adamawa made it to the top 5. See their pictures after the cut.. At the Top5 stage, the girls were asked some few questions on stage and the pretty Miss Abuja was asked by the female host,the places she visited. Disgracefully, our Pretty Miss Abuja bungled totally on stage and couldn't answer the question, could it be stage fright? or she doesn't have confidence in herself? or she was that dull not to remember the places she visited? I felt sorry for her tho! Miss Imo answered everything perfectly with boldness. Miss Bayelsa, was asked who her mentor was,that is, the person she looks up to, she said the President of Liberia; Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, because she is "fearful" and "fearless" that made me laugh hilariously. Reallly??? Fearful and fearless and you want to be like her? That's quite confusing tho. Then,Guy Murray -Bruce,came up to announce the winner and other runner-up,Miss Imo emerged as the 1st runner up of the MBGN 2013. Everyone expected her to win,cause she was 90% perfect; she spoke well,she is pretty, she wore a lovely dress and every other thing about her was wonderful. Then, Miss Bayelsa; Anna Ebiere Banner was crowned the MGBN 2013. Dear Readers, you needed to see the ranting on my BBM and My twitter Timeline,almost everyone thought Miss Imo would have been the winnner. Miss Bayelsa is beautiful,no doubt,light skinned,but alot of people made it seem like she doesn't deserve it. Was there a rigging somewhere? Its no politics here,but a pageantry! That aside,the representative of Bayelsa, who won the MBGN 2013 is an indigene of Bayelsa State.. Errrmm? That says it all init? The Governor of Bayelsa; Hon Henry Dickson Seriake, who was so excited,made a declaration, that because the Winner is an indigene of the State,he is personally going to make her his special assistant/adviser on Culture and Tourism, 18year old girl??? That provoked my fellow Nigerians watching at that time. This is not new to me, cause we ought to know how things in Nigeria are carried out. After that announcement by the state Governor, i saw PM's and tweets like; "the best vagina won", "Venue-Bayelsa,Winner- Bayelsa,Governor - Bayelsa, Judges - Bayelsa, Bruce family - Bayelsa,Timi Dakolo - Bayelsa. everything Bayelsa!!! ", "Nigeria and corruption", "Even in beauty pageant ojoro must dey." and many others i can't remember. Couldn't help but laugh. Anyways,our tweets and personal message on BBM won't change anything,i wish her goodluck,she got herself some cool cash from silverbird, other sponsorship price,an original Cartier wrist watch worth $7,000 courtesy Polo Limited and a trip to Indonesia to represent Nigeria in Miss World 2013 including the additional contract that was given to her by the Bayelsa State Governor; Hon Dickson. Also,From the Final Five, Miss Abuja, 21-year-old Melisa Devidal, was selected as the Fourth Runner-up; Miss Kaduna, 24-year-old Enoma Agbonifo, was the Third Runner-up; Miss Adamawa, 21-year-old Powede Lawrence, was the Second Runner-up and will contest in the Miss Tourism world pageant; and Miss Imo, 19-year-old Stephanie Okwu, was selected as the First Runner-up and will contest in the Miss Universe contest.The MBGN 2013 winner will contest for the Miss World 2013 in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 28th, 2013.
