Read the press statement on the ban just after the cut:
Ban on use of public schools for social activities will check vandalism.
Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Basic Education Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe has explained that the recent ban by the Edo State Government on the use of premises of public schools for social activities would check vandalism of government infrastructure.

She gave the explanation during an inspection tour of some public schools where students are currently writing the Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) in the state.

Dr. Oviawe said the ban would create an effective line of communication and strengthen the harmonious relationship between schools and communities where they are located.

“With such a measure in place, communities will take over ownership of the infrastructure as critical stakeholders and put the problem of vandalism behind them,” she stressed.

She added that the conduct of the examination has been peaceful and orderly without disruptions at the centres visited by her team. “I want to commend the authorities of the various schools we have visited for the orderly manner the examinations are being conducted. There are some challenges that are surmountable and we will improve on the entire process after critically reviewing the findings of our visits,” Dr. Oviawe said.

Speaking to newsmen on the tour, the Principal of Oredo Girls Secondary School, Mrs. Patience Onwodi, said it was timely and would strengthen the education system and create an avenue for constructive review of developments in the sector if it is done regularly.

She noted that the Junior Secondary examination so far has been peaceful without any form of disruption in her school and called on the government to help renovate a dilapidated structure in the school premises to provide more classrooms for students.

The Principal of Uselu Secondary School Mrs. Nosa-Ehigie Adesua called on the state government to intervene in the land grabbing activities of developers, the host community and a church.

Dr, Joan Oviawe and her team visited schools in Egor, Oredo and Ikpoba-Okha local government areas of the state. The schools visited included Imaguero College, Oredo Girls, Niger College, St. Maria Goretti and Edo Boys.

Miss Bayelsa MBGN 2013;Well deserved or not?

The 2013 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria(MBGN) pageant, held in Bayelsa State on Friday 20th, 2013. I wasn't there, but, i watched every bit of it. Thanks to my TV set because the management of Silverbird streamed live. Lucky me!! 15 girls made it to the top 15 and Miss Bayelsa, Abuja,Imo,Kaduna and Adamawa made it to the top 5. See their pictures after the cut..   At the Top5 stage, the girls were asked some few questions on stage and the pretty Miss Abuja was asked by the female host, the places she visited. Disgracefully, our Pretty Miss Abuja bungled totally on stage and couldn't answer the question, could it be stage fright? or she doesn't have confidence in herself? or she was that dull not to remember the places she visited? I felt sorry for her tho! Miss Imo answered everything perfectly with boldness. Miss Bayelsa, was asked who her mentor was, that is, the person she looks up to, she said the President of Liberia; Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, because she is "fearful&q

Which will you do for 20Million? Go braless or pose nude?

Errmm! Let me go like this; in the picture above, on the left is Rihanna. She wore a transparent T - shirt, with no bra and on the right is Lady Gaga, who posed nude for a magazine. If you were given 20 million Naira to do any of the two, which will you go for or do? Walk on the street/market place braless in a transparent shirt or pose completely nude? Lol! Choose wisely o! If you have firm boobs, the first option is for you. Lol!
